No longer a slave to fear!

Yesterday was a real mix of emotions! I met baby Kiana for the first time! She is the daughter of Brian - one of the Building Lives International Uganda directors - and his wife Annet. We visited the hospital for Kiana to have her immunisations and I was chief baby holder during the visit! 💕💕

Later on we attended the ‘Keep the Fire Burning’ annual concference at Holy Spirit Fire Church, Mbarara, where I was allowed to introduce myself and the reason for my visit to the conference goers! It was the most people I have ever spoken in front of! I managed a ‘Praise the Lord!’  in the local language but then had to continue in English! Maybe one day I will be able to speak more of the local language! Towards the end of the evening many people prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and many people were touched by the Holy Spirit.

Later, at home, during our evening devotions, we were discussing reconciliation and how God has reconciled us to him through Jesus and has given us this ministry of reconciliation too. One of the aims of BLI is to reunite the children they rescue from the streets with their families if at all possible. They may not return to their families to live but the aim is to restore telationships, bringing reconciliation within the family with the hope that through their children’s examples, their parents, too, may be reconciled to God.

One of the boys has yet to decide whether he wants to do this. He told us how he has no father at home and his mother would torture him, which is why he fled to the streets.  At BLI these children find a safe place to recover from drug addiction and experience the saving Grace of our Lord Jesus which transforms their lives.

This morning some of the boys were practising their dancing. One of the songs they were dancing to had these lyrics:

“With a melody

You surround me with a song

Of deliverance

From my enemies

'Til all my fears are gone

I'm no longer a slave to fear

I am a child of God

I'm no longer a slave to fear

I am a child of God”

This, literally, is their song. These children no longer live in fear, of their families, or of the dangers of the street. They were testifying to how they no longer sleep hungry and how they struggle to count their clothes! And they give thanks to God for all of this!

Today I leave this precious place and head to Kabale to visit the children that BLI U.K. are supporting. I am so very excited to see them again and know that we will have a very happy and blessed time! 💕
